Where our Rank on Google clients started, and where they are now

These are the results for our Rank on Google clients, each one named and linked to their own website, with every figure exactly as the scan printed it. The biggest move is Direct Boilers and Heating, who weren’t in the top 3 at a single point on our first scan for boiler installation in Bradford and are now in the top 3 across 73.96% of the map, and the ones that moved less are on here too, along with a search that didn’t move at all. Our scan grids have changed over time, so every scan is labelled with its own date and grid.
How to read the scans
Each scan drops a grid of points over the map and searches the keyword from every one of them, the way a customer standing there would. The older scans print an average rank and “Top 3%”. The newer reports print ARP, the average position at the points where the business shows in the top 20, ATRP, the average across every point including the ones where it doesn’t show, and SoLV, the share of points where it’s in the top 3. Top 3% and SoLV measure the same thing, so that’s the number each result leads with. The grid changed between the first scan and the latest for every client below, so read each pair as two snapshots rather than one measurement.

On our first scan in December, Direct Boilers didn’t show in the top 3 at a single point on the map for boiler installation in Bradford. On the latest it’s in the top 3 across 73.96% of a smaller 3-mile grid, and on that same grid it’s stayed between 73.96% and 78.11% since the end of July, though the September report still prints it as 25.45 below the market leader.

INRO make bespoke watch straps from a studio in Alfies Antique Market, and on our first scan in January they were in the top 3 across 8.28% of the map for bespoke Cartier watch straps. By June that was 71.01%, on a grid only a little smaller than the first.

On our first scan in March, Wales and Northwest Legal Services were in the top 3 across 7.1% of the map for will writing services, and on the latest they’re at 40.83%, which the September report prints as “You are the market leader” on that grid. On the same 5-mile grid they’ve been between 36.69% and 43.79% since the end of July, with the best of those on 20 August.

Ever So Special is a florist on Stratford Road in Sparkhill, and our first scan in March had it in the top 3 across 4.73% of the map for florist in Birmingham. The latest has it at 49.11% on a much smaller 2-mile grid, and it hasn’t been a straight line, because on that same grid it sat at 28.40% in mid August, reached 59.76% on 3 September and came back down on the latest.

Clearline Group were in the top 3 across 1.18% of the map for plumber on our first scan in February, and 43.20% on the latest, which is on a much smaller 2.5-mile grid. Their review count went from 47 in March to 110 in September, but plumber leatherhead didn’t move in any scan we have for it.

Staleys Tree Solutions, Stirling. Tree surgery.
Keyword: “tree surgery stirling”
Staleys were in the top 3 across 2.96% of the map for tree surgery in Stirling in April and 29.59% in September, but that figure has sat between 26.04% and 30.18% on the same grid since July. Another business shows in the top 3 at every point on that grid, so there’s a long way still to go here.

Autograph Limousines, Newcastle. Limousine, party bus and chauffeur hire.
Keyword: “party bus hire newcastle”
Autograph Limousines were in the top 3 across 3.55% of the map for party bus hire in Newcastle on our first scan in January, and 8.88% on the last scan we ran for that exact search at the end of March, while a scan on 10 April for “party bus hire in newcastle” had them at 44.97%. Business Profile charts
These five come straight from clients’ Google Business Profile dashboards, and the screenshots don’t show whose profile they are, so they stay unnamed. The big percentages come from small starting numbers, so the counts are the part worth looking at. Google counts activity from Google Ads in these figures as well as from its ordinary results. None of these five ran Google Ads over those months, but the charts still show what changed on each profile, not what caused it.
